June 5, 2010

Well, we finished school last night at 6:30 pm, had a Girl Scout party that included a lemur (too cute!) and burgers. On Saturday morning, we headed to Georgia. We had a really great week long trip to Midville, GA. For the first time, we really were able to relax, the kids were able to play the Wii at Grandma Green's, Parker was able to make many can runs and dumpster diving trips with PaPa, and Camille and her best buddy Doris spent every possible waking moment together. We took one big trip to a great water park. It was an awesome day to play in the water. On Friday morning we headed home and drove all night to get home earlier on Saturday. On Sunday, June 13, we took Camille to girl scout overnight camp. She stayed 3 full days and 2 nights in a chuck wagon. She made a ton of new friends and did some awesome things. She would have stayed a week if we could have let her. That same week, Madi had been chosen to work as a volunteer at the Fort Worth Zoo. She had to complete an application, an interview, and write a paper, and have 2 reference letters. It was a full 40 hour work week, but she too made many new friends and loved caring for the younger kids in the zoo classes. I am so proud of her hard work and dedication. She earned 40 hours of volunteer service credits. During this week, I also attended a school nurse conference in Belton. I stayed with Granny at night and learned in the day. It was a great conference and a great time with my awesome mother-in-law. It was a busy start to the summer!
