catch-up
This is my awesome neice Ashli with Camille. Ashli will finish her bachelor's degree in May and then start med school in the fall. We are so proud of her accomplishments!!
This is the family Christmas picture. Madi is 12, Camille is 8, and Parker is 6 years old. How can it be that my babies have grown up so fast? I am so thankful to God for beautiful, healthy, and intelligent children. I love them so much and am so proud of who they are!! Do you think Camille has something up her sleeve-- that is quite the smile she is showing. And Madi-- is braces free! Her teeth are straight and looking great!
Now these are some crazy young preteens! We are only weeks away from Kenzi and Madi turning into teenagers. They are so much alike yet so very different. Both girls are doing great in school, achievers in extracirricular activities, and are loved by all! They are awesome!
Dad took us to the park during Christmas vacation for a little playtime. Crowley's park has great climbing and great running space. When we mix that with a little sunshine-- everyone has fun!!
Here is the deal, the last few times I tried to get into my blog to write something, it would not let me in. So, I have piddled around and finally got some help last night-- and now I am ready to write. We will have to see how much I can remember... During December, January, and February, Larry has continued taking us to see TCU play sports. At this time of the year, it is basket ball time. Many times Larry takes one or two kids with him and sometimes we all go for Dollar Hot Dog Night. The kids have definitely become TCU fans!! Even I own a couple of purple and white t-shirts. Let's start with January 2011. Santa had brought a trampoline for Christmas. The kids have loved playing, jumping, and just hanging out on it. Late-January, however, Madi was jumping alone and did fracture a small bone in her ankle. She got to wear a really cool boot for about 6 weeks and missed the track try-outs. Madi has worked hard and really enjoyed running this year. She was very sad to miss out on track, but as of the end of March- we have new shoes and the running has started again. Another fun thing in January was basketball! Camille played Upward basketball at Hallmark Baptist. She absolutely loved it and she did great! I could not believe how good her team members were at playing basketball. They all did so wonderful! February- North Texas experienced a major ice storm. Madi hurt her foot on Sunday, missed school on Monday to see the doctor, and at midnight Monday night the ice came. We stayed home and missed 4 full days of school that week. Thankfully, I had made it to the grocery store on that Monday, so we had plenty of food to cook and eat. We played many Wii games and worked in a few good naps. When we returned to school the next week, we were again surprised on Wednesday to have another ice storm and spent that day at home. It was a crazy kick-off for February. March brought on some hard times. In early March, it was announced that Crowley ISD would be getting rid of 13 nurses and that would include me. We had to read it in the paper to find out about it. My time at HFS has been so very special. I have loved my job, I love the kids I work with, the staff has become a second family to me and this year I was able to have Madi with me at school. This is not Madi's home school, but from day one- she has thrived! She is in the band, she has played sports, she has made a ton of great friends, and her academics have soared. This has truly been a great year for the entire family. On Wednesday before spring break I was notified that I have been laid off. This breaks my heart. On top of this, our most awesome neighbors- Jacob and Valerie, Brett and Brendan, announced they are pursuing a job in California. We just love them so much and have loved being a part of the lives of the sweet boys. Even though these things bring great sadness to me, I know that my nursing degree will provide me a job in God's perfect plan, and I am thankful that the Hendersons have great opportunities ahead of them and that we have had the privledge to have them here for 6 awesome years. We did have a great spring break. We ate breakfast one morning at Yogi's, visited with Baby Grayson, dinner at Fuddruckers, and played mini-golf at Buffalo Nickels in Burleson. Tuesday I got a massage and that was my Valentine gift. We also rested/slept most of that day. On Wednesday we went to the new science museum and Parker saw the dr for a cough- probably just allergy related. We were planning to hit Six Flags, but chickened out due to great weather and increased crowds. Madi and I did start painting a dresser from Memaw's house. It will be purple with a cool top. She has enjoyed working on it. Saturday, Granny came to celebrate Madi's 13th birthday!! Granny brought a cookie cake, a new monogrammed volleyball bag, a tye-dyed volleyball and an itunes card. The other really cool gift was "the Texas collection" of OPI nail polishes. We are going to have some fun with that!! Parker played a great soccer game and then we had birthday lunch at Babe's- we love chicken tenders! On Sunday for the actual birthday , we headed to Grand Prairie. We visited the Ripley's Believe It or Not. Madi loves the Ripley's and this is what we did in Branson last year for her birthday. She and I had gone a couple years back with the Girl Scout troop and stayed over night on the floor at Ripley's. So she has fun memories of sleeping in the scary room and being with friends at Ripley's. We all had a great time and we got to play in the Mirror Maze. This was hilarious! We all laughed and worked the maze 3 different times together. Her gift from us was to go to TCU volleyball camp this July for 3 days and stay in the dorms. She will have an awesome time! After arriving home, I took the kids to Payless for some new tennis shoes. Madi got her some new black running shoes-- and she is off and running! Parker and Camille needed new school tennis shoes-- they have completely worn theirs out! (I found me a cute pair of silver sandals with rhinestones for summer- size 12! Gotta love Payless!) TCU baseball is already starting. Larry and one kiddo have already been to several games. Some days are family days and this includes snacks, bouncehouses, and face painting and the occasional petting zoo. These days are really special- because everyone wants to go! This month has also been the devestating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. There has been severe devestation and now there are problems with nuclear meltdowns. We did get the joyful news that my sweet neice Caroline is going to baptized on April 3, 2011. This is so exciting and I am thankful that we will plan to be there for her! Ok- I have done some pretty good catching up and will do better to write more frequently about my sweet family.
